WiFi: when the technology becomes art

by Timo Arnall, Jørn Knutsen and

.
few days ago I came across this video : a nocturnal landscape a bit 'surreal and this wall of lights that takes shape, lengthens and shortens, subject to an invisible force .
The band of light is an auction of 4m in length on which are mounted LEDs connected to the WiFi antenna. Each time the antenna detects a WiFi network, the auction will be illuminated. The stronger the signal lights come on, revealing the topography of networks.
These designers have taken pictures of Oslo long exposure to capture the movement of the band of light and represent what is normally invisible. The WiFi signal is materialized in this representation, revealing a constant presence that permeates our city.
